Istanbul–APA. “Approach between Turkey and Iran is inflated too much. It also includes Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Istanbul”, said Turkish expert of the Eurasian Strategic Research Center (ASAM) Arif Keskin commenting on the controversial visit of Iranian President to Turkey. He said both countries made clear lines of their approach. “The two countries need to discuss their relations again as Turkey’s goodwill initiative on Iran’s nuclear program remains without results. Turkey intends for solution of this issue, but Iran is not positively accepting it. Results of this meeting and statements by Presidents Abdullah Gul and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad showed that Turkey-Iran relations are developing about two axis. One of them is security and another one is the economy. It is early to make prognosis about widening of security cooperation throughout the region. I think the West inflated Turkish-Iranian relations in this field. The cooperation began in 1997 is supported by the cooperation protocols in concrete fields. We see small intensions in the economic field. Both countries are keeping their own positions in the political field”. Arif Keskin said both countries intended to suggest non-crisis models for solution of the problems. “It is supported by the statements based on mutual trust. Such intensions can promote establishing of comprehensive political relations. However Turkey’s position at the international arena doesn’t coincide with the Iran’s regional and international position in many cases and it restricts the relations”.
