Istanbul-APA. Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejat began his working visit to Turkey. His plane landed at the Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport at 13.25 by local time (15.28 by Baku time) on Thursday. Turkish Government Minister Mehmet Shimshek and Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler welcomed the guests. Mahmud Ahmadinejat will meet with Turkish President Abdullah Gul in some hours.
Heavy security measures have been taken in Istanbul because of Iranian President’s visit. Roads led to the hotel hosted the Iranian President have been closed. Auto- and pedestrian traffics have been prohibited around Chiragan Palace, where the presidents meet.
Ahmadinejat said he wouldn’t visit Mustafa Kemal Ataturk Mausoleum in Ankara. Therefore schedule of the Iranian President’s visit to Turkey was changed and it was agreed to pay working visit to Istanbul. Gul left for Istanbul to meet Iranian President.
