The President highly assessed Russia’s announcement of a ceasefire in its conflict with Georgia.
“The two sides should be sensible. I am satisfied with Turkish humanitarian assistance rendered to Georgia. There are Turkish citizens among injured men in the region. A part of them are media representatives. Turkish Foreign Ministry takes proper measures on it. The Government of Azerbaijan assists Turkish citizens to return to their motherland”, he said.
The President stressed that Turkey as a neighboring country would make efforts to ensure peace and stability in Georgia.
“We respect territorial integrity of Georgia and we hope that it will be mastered by others and peace and stability will be restored in the region. Turkey implements tasks at its competence and will further do it. All globally interested developments occur near neighborhood of Turkey”, he said.
Gul added that he contacted with Russian and Georgian Presidents and stated his opinion to them. The President stressed that there was not any problem on Baku-Ceyhan-Tbilisi oil pipeline.
“The pipeline was not targeted by anybody”, he said.
