Terrorist act kills 16 and wounds 137 in Istanbul

APA’s reports quoting Turkish news agencies that an explosion occurred in the rubbish bin at 21.45. 10 minutes later a second explosion happened near the bank department. 16 people died, 137 were wounded in the aftermath of the explosions. A lot of ambulances and fire engines were sent to the site, the police cordoned off the site. Governor of Istanbul Muammar Guler said the blasts were terrorist acts. The witnesses say people gathered in the site where the first blast occurred, and therefore more people were killed and wounded during the second blast. The terrorist act was reportedly committed by PKK, which took losses as a result of Turkish Armed Forces’ operations both inside the country and in the north of Iraq.
