General Edip Baser: â€œArmy will not give chance Turkey become Lebanonâ€

I have not seen their unfair actions by nowâ€, Turkish former coordinator on Combating Terrorism General Edip Baser gave an interview to Milliyet newspaper. He noted that policy interfered in court system and he regretted for it.
â€œThere was not such situation on Turkish justice system. We observe that people believe in democracy and rights are decreased. I am shocked. There are reports that these arrests are linked with policyâ€, he said. Asked arrests of generals are estimated as serious measures taken on democracy Baser answered that it was not democracy.
â€œEstablishing democracy with collapsed walls is not democracy. Several newspapers pass a decision and announce defendants before the courtâ€™s decision. Is it democracy? Citizens do not believe in parliamentarians, who accused of grave crimes and have diplomatic immunityâ€, he said. To him, several press agencies under influence of several political forces target Turkish Armed Forces, one of the founders of Turkish Republic. Baser thinks that if proper measures are not taken, confidence is not restored among state bodies, Turkey will become Lebanon.
â€œYou know that Lebanon is one of the bled wounds of the Middle East. Turkish Army will not give chance Turkey become Lebanon. Baser is against naming operation Ergenekon.
â€œName of Turkish saga should not be used unconsciously. This is falseâ€, he said.
