“I have just seen the follow up report investigating allegations of “extraordinary renditions” and secret detentions in Council of Europe member states, which was prepared by Dick Marty and made public today by the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly,” said Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis.
“It is too early to make any definite judgment on the content, but it is evident that Dick Marty and his team have invested a great deal of effort and that his conclusions are a matter of concern. They should be carefully studied by the governments of all Council of Europe member states,” the Secretary General underlined.
Rapporteur Dick Marty in his report released on June 8 in Paris said alleged terrorists were detained in secret CIA prisons in 2002-2005 in Poland and Romania. The rapporteur said according to secret agreement between NATO partner countries detention places were established in 2001 for terrorists detained in Europe. The report was based on discussions with people who had worked or still worked for the relevant authorities, in particular intelligence agencies of US and Europe./APA/
