In January–June of this year, 18,513 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is a 3.8% decrease in an annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
75.2% of the oil transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline. During the reporting period, 13,924.9 thousand tons of oil were transported via this pipeline, reflecting a 3.8% year-on-year decrease.
During the reporting period, 83.2% (or 11,587.3 thousand tons) of the oil transported through the BTC pipeline consisted of oil produced in Azerbaijan, which is a 1.6% decrease. The remaining 16.8% (or 2,337.6 thousand tons) was oil from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, marking a 13.3% decline.
Recall that last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported via oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which represented a 2.5% year-on-year decrease. Of this, 76% was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline and during reporting period 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil delivered through this route which is a 2.4% decline in an annual comparison.
