In the January-March of this year the average price of natural gas in Europe amounted to 14.41 USD per 1 million BTU (British thermal unit, 27.9 cubic meters), which is 64.7% more compared to the January-March of last year (8.75 USD), APA-Economics reports citing the World Bank’s monthly commodity price report
According to the report, the average gas price in Europe in March was 13.24 USD, which represents a 13.7% decrease compared to February's figure (15.35 USD).
The data also shows that the average price of natural gas in the USA in the January-March of this year was 4.15 USD per 1 million BTU, which is 94.8% higher than the first quarter of last year (2.13 USD). In March of this year, the average price of natural gas in the USA was 4.13 USD, which is a 2.1% decrease compared to February's figure (4.22 USD).
It is reported that in 2024, the average gas price in Europe and the USA was 10.96 USD (a 16.4% decrease) and 2.19 USD (a 13.8% decrease), respectively.
Recall that since December 31, 2020, Azerbaijan started to transport its gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
