"A final investment decision regarding the further expansion of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is expected to be made in January 2026," said Elshad Nasirov, Vice President of SOCAR, during a plenary session held as part of the 11th meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministers and the 3rd meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council Ministers, APA-Economics reports.
He stated that the first phase of the expansion would increase TAP's transmission capacity by 1.2 billion cubic meters per year, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in December 2026.
Elshad Nasirov also mentioned that based on the results of market tests conducted in 2023, further expansion opportunities for TAP are being revised. The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the tender will be December 2025, after which the final decision is planned to be made in January 2026.
