Azerbaijan slashes electricity generation by 9.5% during 1Q09

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan produced about 1.9 billion kilowatts of electricity during March, almost equal to electricity production in the same month last year.
Azerenerji, the national utility, said 1.7 billion kilowatts was generated by thermal power stations and the rest by hydropower stations.
Besides, Azerbaijan continued exchanging electricity with the neighboring countries like Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Iran.
In total 5.8 billion kilowatts of electricity were produced during the first quarter, down 9.5% from a year ago.
