Delivering a speech at the press conference, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun said that the presidential elections were observed by a delegation of 35 persons from Turkey: “We believe that the elections in Azerbaijan and results basing on the people’s will be successful for the future of historical fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. The presidency of Ilham Aliyev for the next 5 years will open new opportunities for the development of the two nations.”
Member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Head of Turkey-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Nejdet Unuvar said that representatives from Turkey observed the election in different regions of Azerbaijan - Gabala, Sumgait, Guba and Baku. He said that this choice is extremely important for Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan has achieved significant innovations in the election process, along with the economic and political developments. Today, we see that Azerbaijan held voting like in modern countries. We declare that the elections were held in a democratic and transparent manner. We once again congratulate the re-elected president Ilham Aliyev and wish him success in the next 5 years. We believe that friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey will further develop.”
MP Sinan Ogan said that no shortcomings were observed during the elections process: “Installation of web cameras at polling stations and the monitoring process is important in terms of transparency. Monitoring of elections by international observers is also a clear indication of transparency and democracy”.
Following the event, the deputies from Turkey stressed that Azerbaijan and Turkey would implement new projects in the coming 5 years: “We believe that both sides will take important steps in direction of settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict”. Thereupon, the deputies responded questions of correspondents.
