President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the new administrative building of Nakhchivan International Airport as a part of the visit. The Head of State viewed the various newly-purchased vehicles and mechanisms aimed at further modernizing the activity of the airport and ensuring security within the consistent measures taken to strengthen the transport infrastructure of Nakhchivan International Airport.
Afterwards, President Aliyev cut the red ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the administrative building.
Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov and President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, Jahangir Asgarov reported to the President that the building, which construction started in March, 2013, meets the up-to-date requirements. The building has 53 offices. All necessary conditions have been created for aircraft maintenance services, arrangement of transportation, aviation security, air traffic management, aviation-metrology and other services. There are also assembly and conference halls and a language laboratory for the study of foreign languages.
It was also told that after the reconstruction of the terminal building, the passenger traffic at the airport per hour reached 450-500 people. It will increase the strategic importance of the airport located in the blockade Nakhchivan.
Following this, President Ilham Aliyev laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan city.
