The Foreign Ministry said it has taken necessary measures regarding the implementation of consular and visa-related issues according to the presidential order dated 8 August 2014 on some actions in connection with holding the first European Games.
The Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry, for ten days before the opening of the Games, started the procedures of issuing visas for foreign nationals wishing to arrive in the country to watch the competitions, the ministry said.
According to the ministry, most of the foreigners who have acquired tickets for the competitions were the citizens of Russia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
