Baku. Etibar Mammadov – APA. It was offered to create a “language police” for the appropriate use, protection and propagation of the Azerbaijani language, the Chairman of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis, MP Sabir Rustamkhanli told journalists.

According to Rustamkhanli, the language police is already operating in a number of developing countries of the world: “From this point of view, I think the Azerbaijani language must also have a strict protector, as every field has. For instance, there are language police in one of the provinces of Canada, where French population make up the majority. Even though English is the official language in Canada, the language police do not allow anything that can oppress French and hinder its use”.

Rustamkhanli noted that some advertisement posters in foreign languages in the country is unacceptable. He said these posters violate Azerbaijan’s language law and he has already appealed to relevant authorities and even taken legal action against several foreign companies.
