APA reports that Siyavush Novruzov raised an issue on how the gas and oil pipelines to Europe are guaranteed. He noted that 99% of consumers of energy resources transported to Europe are NATO members: “Therefore, it’s important for us to know what the commitment of the NATO in the security of these pipelines is”.

According to Siyavush Novruzov, the Azerbaijani president had originally stated that if Armenia puts an end to occupation, liberate the lands, then some portion of the pipelines can pass through this country and Armenians can benefit from these projects: “Today we witness that Armenia is out of these projects and losing millions”.

Novruzov has also stated that these projects would certainly irritate Russia: “If Russia is irritated, it can cause a threat to the pipelines through its partner Armenia to prevent these projects.

Head of the Armenian delegation Koryun Nagapetyan said they don’t consider the energy projects implemented the South Caucus successful.

Armenian MP Tevan Pogosyan the separatist body in Nagorno-Karabakh is supplied with gas at a high level, but didn’t note the source. He claimed that if Nagorno-Karabakh is not involved in energy projects, those pipelines will face a very serious danger’.

Deputy Chairman of the NATO PA Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group Paolo Alli called on Armenians to be careful in their speeches and said NATO can not be closely involved in ensuring the security of these pipelines, as Azerbaijan is not its member: “However, we will always focus on the security of these pipelines, because energy pipelines are very important for us”.
