Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen made the remarks at a press conference on July 15.

“Unfortunately, some countries outside of the region attempt to undermine regional security through creating radical groups. Except the threat of radical groups, we also face the threat of drug smuggling. And its root is outside the region”, said the ambassador.

The diplomat noted that NATO entered Afghanistan under the pretext of fight against drug trafficking and terrorism twelve years ago. “However, not only they failed to eliminate the drug smuggling, but even we are witnessing an increase in drug smuggling.”

The ambassador stressed that Iran is ready to cooperate with any regional country willing to fight against these threats.

“Currently, we observe some positive cases. Some western countries are fighting against terrorism. I hope those countries will boost anti-terror efforts after the Vienna agreement. The whole world should fight against terrorism and radicalism. We closely cooperate with Azerbaijan in this field”, emphasized the diplomat.
