APA reports that Jürgen Klimke is no more on the persona non grata list posted on the website of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Member of German Bundestag Jürgen Klimke, who was declared persona non grata by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry after paying an illegal visit to Azerbaijan’s occupied territories and violating the Law on the State Border, made a written appeal asking to remove his name from the list. In his appeal Klimke said the visit to the occupied Azerbaijani territories in September, 2013 was not a planned visit, he did not know what consequences it would cause, said he recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, regrets that he visited the occupied territories. Jürgen Klimke asked to remove his name from the persona non grata list, promising that he would refrain from visiting the occupied territories without getting permission of Azerbaijan Republic.
Initially the persona non grata list posted on the website of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry included 331 people. Some of them were removed from the list after appealing to the Azerbaijani government. They are member of Russia’s State Duma Alexei Mitrofanov, famous Turkish journalist Nagehan Alci, head of the Moscow office of Voice of America James Brook, Italian singer Al Bano, Johns Hopkins University students Ivan Benovich and Nicholas Vondra, people’s artist of Moldova Konstantin Moskovich.
