Department Chief of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration: â€˜Thereâ€™s a need to create the National Information Security Conceptâ€™

Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “The problem of information security isn’t a main target of the National Security Concept and law “On National Security” and it is classified as part of the country’s general national security”, said Chief of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov in the lecture he delivered at the conference on “Heydar Aliyev and a new model of society”.

Ali Hasanov noted that in those documents, the threats regarding information security are in general sense and do not cover the country’s information security demands in political, economical, defensive, social, national, scientific, technical, ethical fields. According to him, the developed countries’ experience shows that Azerbaijan also needs to create a separate Information Security Concept. This concept should define the juridical bases of the policy of National Information Activities and Security, systematically study and classify threats to the security of the state’s information environment, and predict the potential consequences of threats. At the same time, efficiency of the practical activities of state organizations must be ensured in this field. Ali Hasanov also stressed that in every country, timely detection and prevention of threats to information security is of great importance in terms of ensuring National Security overall.

Hasanov said that it is important to determine and systematize factors that affect Azerbaijan’s information security as a separate Information Security Concept. National Information Security Concept should reflect the influence of ongoing processes both in the international community, country, socio-political and socio-economic life on the state information security and obligations arising from it. He noted that the Information Security Concept should envisage main directions of the information policy on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and tasks lying ahead in this regard.
