CIS observation mission: “Technical errors do not affect the results of elections and we consider the results legal” - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

APA reports the CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev noted that the long-term mission started operating on September 10, consisted of representatives from 9 CIC member-states and always contacted with the CEC.

 

According to him, the observers visited 1,973 polling stations and observed preparations for the elections. Lebedev stressed that the main duty of the mission was to control the conduct of the elections in accordance with the laws of the country: “I personally visited 21 polling stations and did not reveal serious irregularities, some technical errors were observed. For example, 2 persons entered one election booth or a voter got the ballot-paper, voted on the spot and threw it into the box. Some polling stations were opened late. However, a lot of observers visited all polling stations and web-cameras were installed in thousands of polling stations”.

 

Regarding results, Lebedev underlined that the technical errors do not affect the results and the elections were held legally: “The elections have been held open and transparently, in accordance with the democratic norms, constitution of the country and Election Code”.

 

Lebedev also added he has already congratulated Ilham Aliyev on his re-election as the President of Azerbaijan.
