CEC and EU start trainings for members of lower election commissions - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov made the remarks, APA reports. He said that the CEC pays attention to the public awareness and a special program is being prepared to raise election awareness: “President of the Republic of Azerbaijan pays special attention to the awareness of election commissions and gives recommendation to the CEC in the orders he issue regarding the approval of action plan. Public awareness is one of the main issues for us. As election is a complicated process, it involves various subjects. The Central Election Commission has a particular responsibility as a body preparing elections, so we are always training lower election commissions, including precinct election commissions, constituencies and members of Central Election Commission,” he said.

CEC Chairman said that they started working with the Azerbaijani community: “CEC members launched a program to raise election awareness in Public TV, Azerbaijan newspaper and Public Radio once a week. We are always trying to involve public representatives and representatives of international organizations operating in Azerbaijan in all these processes. As Azerbaijan is a democratic country, its elections are in the world's spotlight like the elections held in other European countries and we try the preparation for the elections to be held at a high level. We try the Azerbaijani voters to be created all conditions so that they can demonstrate their political will on the election day. We also work to ensure the participation of enough observers and lower election commissions members’ arranging their activities at a high-level in accordance with the requirements of the Election Code,” he said.

On Aug.14, the CEC together with the EU delegation to Azerbaijan launched trainings dedicated to nomination and registration of candidates. Chairmen of constituencies of Baku, surrounding districts and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are involved in the trainings. Similar events will be held for 125 constituencies in the other districts of the country.
