Azerbaijani President: “Establishment of more parks and rest areas should be in the focus of attention in Baku” - <span style="color: red;">PHOTO

Baku – APA. “Azerbaijan achieved successful dynamic development in 2013, gross domestic product rose by about 6% and non-oil sector by about 10%. The main direction of our policy is economic reforms,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the conference on the outcomes of implementation of the State Program on social-economic development of Baku city and its settlements in 2011-2013, APA reports.


The Head of State underlined that these reforms are highly-estimated by the world's leading financial institutions: “Azerbaijan made political and economic achievements as a result of active work done in the last decade. One of our greatest achievements is the election as a member of the UN Security Council. Our policy is based on the public interests, unity between the people and the authorities.”
The President said that Baku, which is currently hosting international events, has become one of the centers of the world, thus, the capital of Azerbaijan has taken its decent place on the world map: “The guests of Baku also confirm it.”

The Azerbaijani President said that the two state programs were adopted on socio-economic development of regions over the last ten years, significant achievements were made in the development of regions and dynamic development of investments in the country’s economy was ensured. The Head of State noted that there are concrete plans for the coming years and the sustainable development of the country will also be further ensured. Touching on Azerbaijan’s oil strategy, Aliyev spoke about the projects implemented in this sphere and noted that the recently-launched Shah Deniz-2 project will serve the further development of our country.

Underlining that Baku does not consist of only center, President said development is also observed in the settlements and villages of the capital, the State Program on the socio-economic development of the city and its settlements is being successfully implemented.

"The main objective of this program was to solve the problems in Baku in the short run, considerable results have already been achieved, large infrastructure projects have been implemented, they covered implementation of power, gas supply, sewerage system projects, restoration of heating system, construction of new roads, establishment of social and public zones," he said.

President said the State Program on the socio-economic development of Baku and its settlements for 2011-2013 was a great impetus to the renovation of the capital. The Head of State underlined the importance of paying great attention to the infrastructure issues of Baku and its settlements. Noting the necessity of continuing the projects on the construction of new power stations, gas supply, drinking water, sewerage and heating system, Azerbaijan's President gave instructions on the improvement of lifts, overhaul of yards of residential buildings, construction of new roads, road junctions, improvement of public transport, construction of new metro stations.

The Head of State touched on the importance of strengthening control over the construction of new residential buildings in Baku, said establishment of more parks and rest areas should be in the focus of attention.

Underlining that next year will be decisive in terms of first European Games to be held in Baku 2015, the Head of State said the third State Program on the socio-economic development of Baku and its settlements will be adopted in 2014.
