Baku. Fuad Jafarov – APA. The Interior Ministry has commented on the National Council’s statement regarding 12 October rally.

Deputy spokesman for the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov told APA that rally of the National Council held on October 12 was authorized by Baku Mayor's Office: “The police have protected the public order and security of the rally participants in accordance with the law. However, a group of youths attempted to instigate the police to diversion disrupting public order. Of course, their acts were prevented timely and 6 young peopel were taken to the police department and sent to the court together with the information collected about them. As far as I know, 2 of them have been imprisoned for 15 days, 2 for 10 days and the other 2 have been fined.

It’s known that the authorities gave permission to both pre-election and post-election rallies of the National Council. It seems, they are not satisfied with the authorized rally. If it continues so, taking into account numerous appeals of Baku residents, with the view of ensuring public order and safety, the Interior Ministry may file a petition to Baku Mayor's Office so that they do not authorize their rallies, marches. I reiterate that such a petition would serve only the maintenance of public order and safety."

The National Council organized an authorizied rally in Mehsul stadium, Yasamal district, Baku on October 12 to protest against the results of the elections. Afetr the meeting, a group of young people were taken to the police office. The National Council issued a statement on the incident.
