Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry removes name of Moldovan people

People's Artist of Moldova Constantin Moscovici was declared persona non grata as he had paid an illegal visit to the occupied Azerbaijani territories to participate in the event "Celebrating liberation of Karabakh”. Moscovici appealed to the Azerbaijani government and asked to remove his name from the blacklist last week. He said in his written appeal that he visited the occupied Azerbaijani territories as a part of festival in 2009 and noted with regret that he didn’t have any particular purpose. He said that his civilian position regarding the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan coincides with the official position of the Republic of Moldova and asked the government to remove his name from the blacklist undertaking a commitment the he will never violate the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan again.


At first, the list of personae non gratae included 331 people. Some of them were removed from the list after appealing to the Azerbaijani government. They are member of Russia’s State Duma Alexei Mitrofanov, famous Turkish journalist Nagehan Alci, head of the Moscow office of 'Voice of America' James Brook, Johns Hopkins University students Ivan Benovich and Nicholas Vondra and Italian singer Al Bano.
