Azerbaijan to make amendment to legislation to prevent calls for fighting in foreign countries

Muradov said that now websites should promote exemplary young people rather than those who are fighting in Syria: “Azerbaijani media outlets should promote the heroism of young people protecting the border and killed by Armenians. Our several officers were killed as a result of the Armenian subversive actions started since the beginning of the year. They are real martyrs. We should be proud of them instead of promoting those who are fighting in foreign countries. Many social networks are only talking about them.”

Muradov says the websites inciting the youth to provocation, calling them to fight in Syria should be banned: “A Facebook page is carrying out open propaganda, young people are registered there. These pages should be shut down. We should not refrain from the statements of international organizations on restriction of internet access in Azerbaijan. This is a call to terrorism and serious steps should be taken.”

Speaker Ogtay Asadov said the issue will be considered: “It’s incorrect to describe such issues as religious. If the usury is haram in Islam, how it can approve hired fighters. Therefore, this should be prevented. The parliament will take steps to prevent it.”
