President Ilham Aliyev congratulates Orthodox Christian community of Azerbaijan on Christmas

Baku â€“ APA. President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Orthodox Christian community of Azerbaijan on Christmas, Presidentâ€™s press service told APA. The head of state noted that multinational Azerbaijani society was characterized as an example of tolerance in the world and all the nations, ethnic-religious communities lived in mutual respect, confidence and peace in the country.
â€œI want to note with great pleasure that equal right citizens of our country, Orthodox Christian community, have preserved their language, culture, religious belief, perform their national, religious rituals free and fulfill their duties in strengthening state independence of Azerbaijan,â€ he said.

The president underlined that Christmas, significant for the birth of Jesus Christ, is celebrated in Azerbaijan by Orthodox Christian community as all over the world. The president expressed his best wishes on the occasion of the holiday, which is the symbol of peace, mercy and charity.
