New Azerbaijan Party holds conference â€œ2008 presidential elections: new prospects of developmentâ€

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA. New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) held a conference â€œ2008 presidential elections: new prospects of developmentâ€, APA reports. Addressing the event executive secretary of YAP Ali Ahmadov characterized the victory of president Ilham Aliyev as a significant event. Ahmadov spoke about the economic programs implemented in the country and measures taken to establish democratic society.

Speaking about Azerbaijanâ€™s economic policy, projects MP Shamsaddin Hajiyev said thanks to the policy pursued by Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijan could be protected from global financial crisis.
â€œThe head of state announced infrastructure projects, development of ICT and non-oil sector as the main priority. We will see the results of these projects, programs,â€ he said.

Education Minister Misir Mardanov underlined that 14 programs confirmed by the president had been implemented in education sector of Azerbaijan. Noting great achievements of the 5 recent years in education sector, the minister said the president focused his attention on that sector.

Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov underlined that Ilham Aliyev had named ICT sector as one of the main priorities of the state. Noting 33-35 percent increase in the sector in the past five years, the minister said ICT industry basing on modern technologies would be established in Azerbaijan soon. Ali Abbasov said the order issued by Azerbaijani President to establish space industry gave an impetus to the establishment of a new field in the countryâ€™s economy.

Chairman of State Social Protection Fund Salim Muslumov, chairman of the parliamentâ€™s commission Samad Seyidov spoke about the work done in the country to strengthen social protection of population and international cooperation in the recent five years.
