20 percent of our lands have been occupied as a result of Armenia’s ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijan”, said President Ilham Aliyev in his address to the conference of ministers of culture of the Council of Europe member countries “Intercultural dialogue as a basis for peace and sustainable development in Europe and its neighboring regions” in Baku. He said one million Azerbaijanis have been expelled from their homeland as a result of conflict. “Azerbaijan’s eternal and indigenous region of Nagorno Karabakh and seven nearby regions are under the full occupation. Our people, who have been expelled from their homeland, are suffering. It is great injustice. Armenia ignores the UN Security Council’s demands to withdraw its forces from the occupied territories unconditionally”.

The Head of State said resolutions of a number of reliable organizations had not been implemented yet. “It is a great threat to the regional processes. The norms of international law should be observed completely, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity should be restored and the occupied lands should be liberated immediately. This military aggression damaged our cultural heritage too. All were destroyed in the occupied lands. Not only we, but also the international organizations confirmed it”.
