Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Roundtable on the theme “20th anniversary of deportation of Azerbaijani Turks from the present Armenia – Western Azerbaijan” has been held today on the initiative of the Union for Democracy. APA reports that researcher Parviz Samadov spoke about the history of deportation and said the acts committed against Azerbaijani Turks in the past 200 years were genocide. Chairman of Great Azerbaijan Party Elshad Musayev said deportation was one of the national problems of Azerbaijan. Acting chairman of Azerbaijan Liberal Party Evez Temirkhan accused the authorities, opposition and intellectuals of not informing the international community about the fact of deportation. He said that the status of the Azerbaijanis deported from Armenia should be determined.
“These people should receive a special status so that they can demand their personal property from Armenians in future,” he said.
Professor Firudin Jalilov said settling the Azerbaijanis deported from Armenia in Nagorno Karabakh could solve the conflict in favor of Azerbaijan.
“We met with Abdurrahman Vazirov at that time. Vazirov protested against it and as a result of it the number of Azerbaijanis reduced in Karabakh,” he said.

Leader of Azerbaijan National Independence Party Etibar Mammadov, chairman of Freedom Party Ahmad Oruj, MP Panah Huseyn, journalist Mahal Ismayiloglu, political scientist Gabil Huseynli also underlined the importance of determining the legal status of the Azerbaijanis deported from Armenia.
