Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. “Negotiations on the extension of the Opposition’s Cooperation Center continue. It is impossible to say something about the factors that will impede the unity of the opposition parties,” Chief of Musavat Party’s Central Executive Board Arif Hajili told APA. He said that various projects were introduced for discussion.
“Continuing the cooperation of the parties, which cooperated during the elections campaign, extending the cooperation, expanding the composition, establishing deeper relations with separate political parties etc,” he said.

Arif Hajili said the discussions were held among the parties admitted to the Opposition’s Cooperation Center, Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Classical Popular Front Party, Azerbaijan National Independence Party and a number of parties, which allied with Musavat in 2003.
“But if these discussions do not produce positive results, the coverage of the cooperation will be narrower,” he said.
Arif Hajili noted that the discussions would be over within several months.

Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Hasan Karimov also noted that the discussions had not ended. Karimov told APA that the discussions cover the main targets of the Opposition’s Cooperation Center in 2009-2010.
“It is discussed to turn the center to a bloc, to participate jointly in the local and parliamentary elections, admit Classical Popular Front Party. The discussions will be over by the New Year and there will be no problem in turning Opposition’s Cooperation Center to a political bloc. There is no principle divergence among the sides,” he said.

As regards Arif Hajili’s statements that Azerbaijan National Independence Party and Azerbaijan Democratic Party would be admitted to the new union, Hasan Karimov said it was out of discussion.
“These parties have retracted from opposition and Azerbaijan Popular Front Party does not consider it expedient to cooperation with them. It is very difficult. Arif Hajili’s statement is the position of Musavat Party, but we are not thinking of any cooperation with these parties,” he said.

Musavat, Popular Front Party, Liberal Party, Citizen and Development Party and Public Forum for Azerbaijan are represented in the Opposition’s Cooperation Center.
