Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. The parliament continued discussing draft state budget for 2009 in the second part of today’s sitting. APA reports that the parliamentarians made speech in the second part. MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev said Azerbaijan’s state budget mainly depended more on oil and fall in oil prices might have serious impacts. The parliamentarian said economic reforms should be accelerated, support for the development of entrepreneurship, allocations on education, health and military sphere should be increased.

MP Khanhuseyn Kazimli said Azerbaijan’s state budget was social-economic oriented and the budget package had been prepared well. MP Ganira Pashayeva said more attention should be paid to the graves found in Guba. The parliamentarian said it was inadmissible to neglect the graves. She also noted the importance of giving social mortgage loans to the scientists and servicemen.

MP Yevda Abramov said the people in Guba had problems with gas supply.
“It has already snowed in Guba, but there is no gas in the region. We say we export gas to Europe, but we can not supply Guba with gas. I switched off my phone. I do not know what to say to the residents. Pupils bring firewood to schools in Guba. The budget should work for the people, not for a minister or a parliamentarian. Why should praise the budget that does not serve the people?” he said.

MP Vahid Ahmadov underlined the importance of improving non-oil sector and insuring people’s deposits in banks. Musa Guliyev offered to increase the funds allocated for education, health and tourism in Azerbaijan.
“48% of the dead people suffered from cardiovascular diseases. Material-technical basis of medical facilities should be increased. There is no sanatorium for children in Azerbaijan,” he said.

The discussions will continue tomorrow.
