Ali Karimli: “In the recent elections we saw who complied with the determined standards as a constructive oppositionâ€
Asked about the proposal, which aimed to expand the format of the Opposition’s Cooperation Center, turn it from functional cooperation to a structured union and which was not accepted by Musavat, Ali Karimli said he did not insist on extending the format.
“It will be good, if Musavat Party, or Classical Popular Front Party want to join our union. But it is difficult to find a political organization expressing similar position on the elections and sharing similar principles with us. That’s why I think it is not right to extend the union artificially. Of course, there is dynamics, change in life, maybe the political forces having wrong position, hesitating today will choose an unambiguous political course one day. At that time our doors should be open for cooperation with these forces. We do not create a closed format. In the recent presidential elections we covered the main forces able to tell the truth. My proposal aims to achieve closer integration of these forces. We were right to begin with the functional cooperation. But it can not fully meet our need. That’s why I think we should deepen the cooperation and openly state that we want to participate in the forthcoming local and parliamentary elections in the unique election bloc. I did not see Musavat Party’s unambiguous protest concerning this issue. I familiarized myself with the views of various organization men in media, but did not come across the views protesting against deepening the party’s cooperation and continuing the integration. I hope Musavat will also be interested in deepening this integration,†he said.
Ali Karimli said Azadlig bloc would continue its political activity and mentioned that it was not an election bloc.
“The parties of the bloc have close relations and to preserve these relations is in the interest of the opposition. I just want the formation of sincere atmosphere in the opposition in future, like the one in Azadlig bloc,†he said.
To him, elections were last glance for political forces and it determined the fact that who can continue their principal policy.
“We saw those, who were coincided with determined standards as constructive opposition. We try to achieve close integration of political forces, which did not join frame determined by the government, protect “Islands of freedom, expand their borders and take measures on democracy,†he said.
Karimli spoke about constructive opposition and commented on statement made by YAP functionaries on the fact that current leading opposition consists of forces, who only participated in the elections.
“The Government cannot choose opposition for itself. If political forces serve for the interest of the authorities, it cannot be opposition. The opposition is an organization, which is against the authorities and policy persuaded by it and want to change its power. If political force does not aim to change the authorities, how it can be opposition,†he said.
He stated that they initiated to attend municipal and parliamentary elections. To him, political situation can influence on the decision as elections approached.
“There is a good chance to involve citizens for active struggle, because there are many candidates in these elections. We will pass last decision as elections approached,†he said.
Karimli noted that last losses from the party were linked with their principal policy.
“If we go to the elections, Gulamhussein Alibayli will not resign,†he said.
Karimli added that position of his party was increased after elections in the country and stated that he had no information whether members of the party participated in the elections or not.
“We have not monitored it,†he said.
