Azerbaijani MPs sharply reply criticisms of intellectuals on MM

Baku. Elnur Mammadliâ€“APA. A group of intellectuals, who protested to conduct discussions on writer and film director Rustam Ibrahimbayov in MM, made a joint statement, APA reports.
Authors of statement stated that there was no need to conduct discussion on Ibrahimbayov in MM and noted that Ibrahimbayov stated his own opinions in his interview and it showed freedom of speech.
Authors of statement linked the situation with low political level of MPs. Authors of the statement noted that those, who did not agree to opinions of Ibrahimbayov, could take stance on the situation via mass media or press conferences.
MP Aydin Mirzazadeh told APA that those, who called the country for ethic level, used insulting phrases in their statement.
â€œI express my regret that there are such persons among them whom I respect,â€ he said.
MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev condemned the statement. He stated that there were persons among them, who he respect and regretted for it.
â€œIbrahimbayov starts campaign in unsuccessful time. Even radical forces in Armenia stop a campaign against the Government during negotiations on Karabakh. Such kind of speech of Ibrahimbayov during meeting between the Presidents and insulting MM by a group of MPs is unacceptable. This is an organized issue, not coincidence,â€ he said.
MP Nizami Jafarov told APA that the statement signed by more than 200 persons had not been prepared by all of them. â€œThat statement was written by one person, who is completely unaware of the Parliamentâ€™s workâ€, said Cafarov and added that made mistake and insulted the people.
Deputies Siyavush Novruzov and Eldar Ibrahimov did not want to take stance on the statement as they are not familiar with it.
