Open Society Party makes sensational statement on Musavat Party and media close it

He noted that his honor and dignity had been insulted several times.
“Unfortunately, betrayers, who led Azerbaijan to collapse during their reign, misappropriated the ideology of Musavat and managed to exist by selling its main principles. These betrayers, who lost the support of people and became the tools of mafia, continue their campaign of slander and blackmail,†he said.
Akif Shahbazov noted that the articles criticizing Open Society published in the newspapers close to Musavat derived from the hatred of Musavat.
“We have decided to demonstrate the government’s achievements and shortcomings. I had worked in the administrative agencies for 20 years and I have been in opposition for 10 years. I regret that sometimes I drank tea with the officials of the party. But even then my aim was to get them back on the right track. As regards the elections, this is our position. If they had been brave, they would have participated in the elections, or assessed the elections properly, congratulated the winner. If they were strong, they would hold protest actions,†he said.
Chairman of Musavat Party’s assembly Sulheddin Akbar told APA that the accusations of Open Society Party against Musavat were groundless.
“The steps of Open Society Party are known to everybody, there is no need for a comment. I think if Open Society Party backs the government, it means that they have left the opposition. Therefore we can understand their aggressive attitude towards the opposition,†he said.
“I do not wish success to Open Society Party. The way they have chosen will not bring honesty to anyone. But I wish wisdom and tolerance to the party’s leadership,†editor-in-chief of Yeni Musavat newspaper Rauf Arifoglu told APA while taking a stance on the statement of Akif Shahbazov, chairman of Open Society Party, concerning Musavat Party and newspapers close to it. Arifoglu said Shahbazov’s statement was weak from political aspect and full of swearing, which needed editing.
“There is an emotion in this statement, which is not characteristic of a professional politician. The matter is that the swearing, insults in the statement are characteristic of only Akif Shahbazov and the persons, who led Rasul Guliyev’s party to this state. The statement about Musavat Party and newspaper close to it does not concern us and the people will also consider so. Akif Shahbazov’s words that Musavat and media outlets close to this party have been carrying out propaganda against them since the establishment of Open Society Party are biased. It should be mentioned that Open Society Party was set up in the office of Musavat. The government did not allocate venue to hold the party’s congress and Musavat helped this party. Akif Shahbazov slanders. His statements are biased and false,†he said.
