CE top observer Andres Herkel starts monitoring of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva –APA. Head of the Observation Mission of the Council of Europe Andres Herkel and chief of the CE Secretariat Vladimir Dronov have started monitoring of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan at 08.00 on Wednesday.
The European observers have visited at first 3rd polling station of the 29th Sabayel Electoral District and met with the chairman of the local District Electoral Commission Jahangir Mammadov, APA reports. Mammadov said 46 150 voters were registered in the district and 1 118 of them – in the 3rd polling station. Two OSCE observers and a representative of Ukrainian Supreme Rada are also watching the voting process in the station.
The observers have not pointed out any defect in the voting process. The polling station was opened in time (at 08.00).
Mammadov said the polling station received 3 written requests and a phone call about the home voting and DEC representatives will visit those citizens at home and provide them with opportunities to vote.
