New building of Baku State University inaugurated

Baku â€“ APA. New building of Baku State University was inaugurated on September 15. President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva also attended the opening ceremony. Presidentâ€™s press service told APA that the head of state cut the ribbon.

The construction of the new building began in 1991, but later the works were suspended. Under the orders of President Ilham Aliyev AZN 600,000 was allocated from the state budget for the construction of the building in 2006, AZN 2.5 million in 2007 and AZN 4.6 million this year. 15,000 square meters, 10-storey building has been supplied with all the necessary equipment. There are over 300 rooms and 220 lecture-halls in the new building. Modern building offers all the necessary conditions for studentsâ€™ education.

President Ilham Aliyev acquainted with the storeys, where the faculties of history, applied mathematics and cybernetics are located, computer center, assembly hall, polyclinic and canteen. Ilham Aliyev made speech at the ceremony.

The head of state said one of the leading higher schools of Azerbaijan, Baku State University was developing. Speaking about the state care for education in Azerbaijan, the president noted that the funds allocated for this field was increased year after year and activities would continue for the development of education.
