Baku. Tamara Grigoryeva – APA. “There is religious tolerance in Azerbaijan,” Deputy Interior Minister Oruj Zalov told journalists, APA reports. He said that the activity of no mosque was being prosecuted.
“All mosques are open. We have not banned the activity of anyone. But law-enforcement bodies may interfere, if religious people pray in the streets and impede pedestrians,” he said.
Oruj Zalov refuted the reports that Wahhabists were brought to police offices and their beards were shaved.
He said that some safety measures were taken in connection with the explosion in Abu Bakr mosque and the results of the measures were publicized.
“I would like to note that compared with neighboring Georgia and Armenia there is complete stability in Azerbaijan and all members of the society, as well as media representatives should keep this stability,” he said.
