State Border Service officers detained 75 wanted people last month

Baku. Mahbuba Gasimbayli-APA. 26 trespassers were detained in Azerbaijan in August, 2008. Press Service of State Border Service told APA that the trespassers are citizens of Azerbaijan (11), Iran (6), Pakistan (6), Georgia (2) and South Korea (1).

190 people - citizens of Iran (62), Turkey (47), Philippines (11), Azerbaijan (8), France (6), India (6), United States (5), Tajikistan (4), United Arab Emirates (4), China (3), Ecuador (3), Israel (3), Cameroon (3), Malaysia (3), North Cyprus (2), Nigeria (2), Sudan (2), Thailand (2), citizens of Georgia, Lebanon, Madagascar, Russia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Germany, Great Britain, Jordan (one from each state) and two men having no citizenship, were detained for not having visa.
68 people - citizens of Iran (23), Turkey (9), Israel (5), Great Britain (4), Germany (2), Ireland (2), Sweden (2), Lebanon (2), Turkmenistan (2), citizens of the US, Azerbaijan, France, India, Canada, South Korea, Egypt, Mongolia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia (one from each state) and 7 men having no citizenship were detained as the term of their visa expired.
37 people - citizens of Azerbaijan (21), Iran (7), Russia (4) and citizens of Austria, Georgia, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey (one from each state) were detained for not having relevant documents. State Border Service officers detained 75 wanted people and handed over to the law-enforcement bodies.

34.160kg narcotics were confiscated as a result of the measures taken to combat illicit drug trafficking. Besides, 2.350 tones of 9,300 wild narcotic plants were collected from 1ha area and burnt down. Smuggled goods worth AZN 143,848, as well as 17 pneumatic guns, 200 cartridges, 13 sporting guns, 2500 cartridge-cases of sporting gun, 217 cartridges, 1 binocular, 7200 boxes of cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, industrial and agricultural goods were detained in 43 cases.
