U.S Ambassador to Azerbaijan meets CEC Chairman

Baku. Elnur Mammadli-APA. U.S Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse has met CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov, CEC Press Service told APA.
The Ambassador noted that the US planned to hold large-scale program on presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan. She estimated free, just, democratic elections as factor of democracy in the country and stressed that the US was interested in the strengthening democratic institutions in the country. The Ambassador added that she followed measures taken by CEC on preparation for elections and estimated qualification programs carried out by CEC for local election commissions and definition of voting list.
Panahov stressed that both Presidentsâ€™ opinions coincided on the development of democracy in the country. CEC Chairman added that all measures would be taken to hold just, transparent and democratic elections and voting rights of the citizens would be ensured. CEC Chairman stated that courses, seminars on qualifying members of polling stations and election commissions have been organized according to Presidentâ€™s National Action Plan on Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan.
