General training of military parade held on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani Armed Forces to be held on June 26 - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Unlike military parade on October 9, 1992, modern military ammunitions and equipment of Armed Forces will be demonstrated in this parade, APA’s correspondent observed general training. Cars have been banned to route through the above-mentioned direction because of collection of heavy military equipment and personnel since June 24. Vessels of Azerbaijani Navy were at anchor from 16.00.
Large–scale training of military parade started with the participation of Defense Minister Colonel-General Safar Abiyev at 20.30. National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov, Elchin Guliyev, Chief of State Border Service, Vagif Akhundov, Chief of Special State Defense Service, Zakir Hasanov, Commander of Interior Troops and other generals arrived at the Azadlig Square. Hundreds of Baku residents observed the general training.
Training started with the report of the Defense Minister. Moreover servicemen sang national anthem and it was announced that military units were ready to march before the tribune. Soldiers started to march before the tribune led by Major-General Eyvaz Jafarov, Chief of Defense Ministry Main Operations Department following Azerbaijani state flag.
First soldiers in the uniforms of the army of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic equipped with the arms of that period marched before the tribune. Then unit of Jamshid Nakhchivansky Military Lyceum cadets, followed by the students of Education Center headed by the General-Major Lankaran Aliyev, Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan High Military School headed by General-Major Heydar Piriyev, as well as cadets of the Azerbaijan High Naval and Air Schools, units of Ground Troops and Azerbaijani peacekeepers passed through the square. The National Guard of the Special State Security Service, units of the Ministry of National Security and Civil Defense Troops of the Ministry of the Emergency State, as well as Border and Internal Troops and marines marched with the special introduction in the parade. The most interesting part of the training-parade was a march of the three special units of the Ministry of Defense equipped with the NATO modern small arms, uniforms and masks.
Following the march of military personnel before the tribune, the presenter introduced the technical personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Technical equipments of the Armed Forces beginning from the motorcycles to the different missile and artillery systems were demonstrated in this part of the parade. Only heavy armored vehicles – tanks, armored personnel carriers and self-powered artillery systems were not involved in the training-parade.
APA obtained preliminary information about the military techniques demonstrated in the parade. T-72M1 tanks, BMP-2 fighter vehicles, BTR-80, 2C7, 2C3, 2C1 self-powered artillery installations, OSA-AK, Tochka-U, S-200, S-125 air defense missile systems, BM-21 (Grad), Smerch reactive volley systems, - only Azerbaijan owned these systems among the South Caucasian countries, - Giatsin, M-46, MT-12 cannons, D-20, D-30A, RBQ (107 mm) and AMQ-Vasilyok howitzers and for the first time in Azerbaijan’s history, unmanned spy jets will be demonstrated on June 26. Armed soldiers in the Mercedes UNIMOS and Land Rover military vehicles and in PKM motorcycles will pass through the square before the military techniques. Naval Forces will support the military parade from the sea and fighter jets and helicopters of the Azerbaijan Air Forces will make piloting flights over the Azadlig Square. 200-personnel military orchestra of Azerbaijani Armed Forces will accompany the military parade. The ministry of defense Safar Abiyev told APA, the parade was organized in the high level. “We organized this parade in the high level. Azerbaijani people will see the power of its Armed Forces in this parade”.
This is the second military parade in the history of the Azerbaijan’s second independence and third in the history of Armed Forces generally. The first military parade took place in 1919 in Baku in the territory of present Carpet Museum.
