YAP sends protest letter to a group of U.S. congressmen

Baku. Elnur Mammadli-APA. New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has sent a protest letter to a group of congressmen for their position during the hearings in the House Foreign Affairs Committee â€œThe Caucasus: Frozen Conflicts and Closed Bordersâ€. APA reports that the letter addressed to the congressmen Howard Berman, Joe Knollenberg, Brad Sherman, Adam Schiff, Frank Pallone says:
â€œImproving strategic partnership relations between the US and Azerbaijan were thoroughly commented and great importance was attached to these relations during the hearings, Unfortunately, speeches of some congressmen caused protest of Azerbaijani public, as well as the ruling New Azerbaijan Party. Nagorno Karabakh conflict was not approached objectively, unreal statements were made during the hearings. We are sure that You and other congressmen, who made such statements, are aware of the resolutions on the conflict adopted by the UN Security Council. You know that 20 percent of Azerbaijanâ€™s territory has been occupied by Armenia and over one million people have been displaced,â€ he said.
The letter says that due its aggressive policy Armenia has isolated itself from the regional projects.
â€œIf you protest to any blockade situation, it would be more right and logical if you first of all direct these protests towards Armenia,â€ he said.
