Leaders of political parties represented in Azerbaijani Parliament are preparing to appeal to Azerbaijani President

According to the information, the leaders of the political parties represented in the parliament ask to sign agreement on financing the political parties from state budget.

The report also says that some political party leaders signed this appeal. The appeal was decided to send to the president next week.

Leader of All Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (BAXCP) Gudrat Hasanguliyev confirmed the fact to APA. He said that they decided to address the appeal to the president because of heavy financial situation of political parties. Hasanguliyev said that in this appeal they asked for financing political parties which function in Azerbaijan: “We have not chosen special criteria on this appeal. The main criterion which is taken in the world for financing the parties is their result achieved in the parliamentary election. On the contrary the tendency of financing all political parties established in the country is not seen in the world. Such thing can seriously damage the political system and there will be persons which will benefit from this process”.

Chairman of Great Establishment Party Fazil Gazanfaroglu told APA that on the appeal to the president they focused attention on the importance of steps for democratization of the law on “The political parties”: “in his speech at the Parliament the president noted the importance of implementing the reforms in the political system. It is very important to take such step for the broadening of the parties’ working conditions, the settlement of their financing problems in the elections and ensure of their active participation in the elections. The law was adopted in 1992. The political realities have changed and many amendments were made in the Constitution from that time. We ask the president to make all necessary efforts in this process.”

Note that Azerbaijani Parliament is represented by New Azerbaijan Party, Social Welfare Party, Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party, Great Establishment Party, Justice Party, Umid (Hope) Party, All Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Civil Solidarity Party, Civil Union Party and Democratic Reforms Party.
