Mazahir Panahov re-elected chairman of Central Election Commission

Baku. Parvin Abbasov – APA. The newly-elected Central Election Commission (CEC) held its first meeting. APA reports that head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev also attended the meeting.

Chairman, deputy chairman and secretaries of the commission were elected. Mazahir Panahov was elected chairman of the CEC, Natig Mammadov his assistant, Mikayil Rahimli and Arifa Mukhtarova secretaries.

Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev gave instructions to the members of the CEC.

Up to the present Mazahir Panahov has been chairman of the CEC. Shaitdin Aliyev was his assistant, Natig Mammadov secretary. The post of the other secretary was vacant.

The list of 18 persons elected by the parliament for the CEC membership on February 22 is as follows: Mazahir Panahov, Shaitdin Aliyev, Fuad Javadov, Ramiz Ibrahimov, Valida Kazimova and Gabil Orujov (all from YAP), Mikayil Rahimli (United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party), Almas Gahramanli (Citizen Solidarity Party), Akif Gurbanov, Tamam Jafarli (Democratic Reforms Party), Bakhsheyish Asgarov (Great Establishment Party), Etibar Guliyev (Motherland Party), Natig Mammadov, Azer Tagiyev, Arifa Mukhtarova, Ilham Mammadov, Nizami Nadirov and Tofig Hasanov (candidates of non-party parliamentarians). Natig Mammadov’s candidacy was agreed with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Arifa Mukhtarova’s candidacy with the representatives of the parties holding minority of seats in the parliament.
