Parliament’s Security and Defense Committee holds meeting

Baku. Parvin Abbasov - APA. Azerbaijani Parliament’s Security and Defense Committee has today held a meeting, APA reports. Issue on submitting “Cooperation agreement in sphere of warning and elimination of emergency situations between the Government of Azerbaijani Republic and Latvian Republic” for ratification at the Parliament was discussed at the meeting. It was noted that the agreement was signed on January 17, 2011 during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Latvia. The agreement consisting of 18 articles considers issues about prevention of emergency situations occurred between the two countries. It was reminded that the agreement was signed by Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov on the Azerbaijani side and Minister of Internal Affairs Linda MÅ«rniece on the Latvian side.

Delivering speeches at the meeting committee members said that this document corresponded national interests of Azerbaijan. Finally, the document has been recommended to the parliament for ratification.

Recent warning on avoidance of visits to 8 occupied Azerbaijani regions was also discussed at the meeting. It was noted that it was the success of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.
