Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble performs at festival in Switzerland-PHOTO

The Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble has performed at the prestigious “Septembre Musical Montreux–Vevey” festival in Switzerland, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture told APA.

Azerbaijani culture is being showcased at the festival from September 13 to 15 through an extensive program under the motto “Azerbaijan: The Rhythms of Heritage,” bringing together the country’s centuries-old cultural heritage and contemporary forms of artistic expression.

On September 13, the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble presented a concert at Montreux’s renowned Auditorium Stravinski.

The program included the suites “My Azerbaijan” and “Vatan,” as well as “Dance with Gaval,” “Gazakhi,” “Wedding,” “Sari Gelin,” “Shali,” “Drummers,” “Agh Chichayim,” “Dance with Scarves,” “Gaytaghi” and “Naz Elama.”

The performance, showcasing the richness and diversity of Azerbaijan’s national choreography, music and dance traditions, was warmly received by the audience.

Founded in 1946, “Septembre Musical Montreux–Vevey” is one of Switzerland’s oldest classical music festivals and is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

The centerpiece of the Azerbaijani program will be the “Azerbaijan Culture” gala concert at Auditorium Stravinski on September 14. Around 200 Azerbaijani artists are expected to participate, bringing together classical and symphonic music, mugham, jazz, national musical instruments and dance.

Azerbaijan is also represented at the festival by prominent artists including Alim Gasimov, Murad Huseynov, Yusif Eyvazov, Afaq Abbasova, Sevda Alakbarzade, Elvin Hoca Ganiyev, Elmina Hasan, Fuad Ibrahimov, Isfar Sarabski, Jeyla Seyidova and Azer Zade.
