Progress has reportedly been made in indirect talks between the United States and Iran, and an American delegation is expected to join direct negotiations with Iranian officials in Doha, the capital of Qatar, Qatar's Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper reports, citing sources close to the mediation efforts.
According to the report, preliminary agreements have allegedly been reached in talks mediated by Qatar and Pakistan on Iran's nuclear program, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and the provision of financial incentives to Tehran. China and Russia could also reportedly act as guarantors of a possible agreement.
The report notes that the Iranian delegation has returned to Doha together with Qatari mediators, and talks are expected to continue today.
These diplomatic efforts intensified following discussions lasting more than 12 hours between Qatari mediators and Iranian officials in Tehran on October 30.
According to Axios, the aim of the talks is to prevent possible new strikes against Iran following the US midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
Meanwhile, the United States has reportedly warned Gulf countries to prepare for the possibility of renewed strikes against Iran starting November 4.
