40th session of the TURKSOY Permanent Council held in Shusha

On October 13, the 40th Session of the TURKSOY Council of Ministers of Culture was held in Shusha, APA reports.

The event was organized jointly by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and TURKSOY.

Azerbaijani Culture Minister Adil Karimli, who delivered the opening speech, spoke about the significance of the session. Highlighting the multitude of topics to be discussed during the session, the minister called on the participants to actively engage in making decisions.

Sultan Raev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, noted the significance of this year's session. He mentioned that it marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of TURKSOY.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary-General of the Turkic Council, stated that the session will be remembered for its important decisions.

Azerbaijan's Special Representative of the President in the Shusha District, Aydin Kerimov, pointed out that during the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY, held in Bursa, Türkiye, on March 31, 2022, Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, was declared as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for the year 2023. In accordance with the respective decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev, various events are being held in Shusha.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kayrat Imanaliyev, expressed his satisfaction with being in Shusha and emphasized that the decisions taken at the session will contribute to the future cooperation between our countries.

Bahodir Akhmedov, the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has been involved in various significant projects of the Turkic world. He emphasized that these projects will further strengthen the unity of our people.

Serdar Çam, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, praised the holding of such a meeting in Shusha, which was liberated from the enemy thanks to the heroism of the Azerbaijani Army. He mentioned that he visited Shusha two years ago and highlighted how the city has become even more beautiful during this time.

Fikri Ataoglu, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Environment, and Housing of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, highly appreciated TURKSOY's mission in bringing the Turkic world together. He expressed pride in Northern Cyprus being a part of the Turkic world.

Later, speeches were listened to from Mehmet Sureyya Er, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TÜRKPA), Shahin Mustafayev, the President of the International Turkic Academy, and others.
