Solemn opening ceremony of 1st International Mugam Festival â€œSpace of mugamâ€ to be held in Azerbaijan, March 20

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. The solemn opening ceremony of the 1st International Mugam Festival â€œSpace of mugamâ€ will be held in Azerbaijan on March 20, APA reports. Chairperson of Azerbaijan Composersâ€™ Union, peopleâ€™s artist Firangiz Alizadeh said at the press conference that International Scientific Symposium, mugam competition and festival concerts will be held within the framework of â€œSpace of mugamâ€ International Mugam Festival.
â€œThe 1st Republic Mugam competition was held in March this year. Over 100 people applied for the competition, 27 candidates passed the 1st round and 10 the 2nd round. Winners of republic competition Teyyar Bayramov (1st place), Vafa Orujova (2nd place), Babek Niftaliyev (3rd place), Arzu Aliyeva and Sabuhi Ibayev will represent Azerbaijan in the International Mugam Competition,â€ she said.
Firangiz Alizadeh said the International Mugam Competition will be held in Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater on March 22-24. 67 representatives from Iran, Syria, Iraq, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Turkey and Germany will participate in the competition. Grand Prix winner will get â‚¬20,000, â‚¬15,000 will be given for the 1st place, â‚¬10,000 for the 2nd place and â‚¬5,000 for the 3rd place. Musicians from 10 countries â€“ Iraq, Iran, Morocco, Syria, Italy, China, India, Egypt, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will participate in the concerts of the festival. The concerts will be held in the International Mugam Center within five days. Mugam singers will perform seven Azeri mugams in the concerts. Alim Gasimov, Mansum Ibrahimov, Malakkhanim Ayyubova, Agakhan Abdullayev, Sakina Ismayilova, Nuriyya Huseynova, Zabit Nabizade will perform. Azerbaijani State Orchestra will perform symphonic mughams â€œShurâ€, â€œKurd Ovshariâ€,â€ Gulustan Bayati-Shirazâ€ by Amirov, Rast by Niyazi, Mughamvari by Alizadeh, Bayati Shiraz by Aliverdibeyov, Fuzuli by Jahangirov. The conductors will be Italian Silvio Sergio and Fakhraddin Karimov. Mugham operas â€“ Leyli and Majnun by Hajibeyli, Ashig Garib by Hajibayov will be demonstrated in Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The event â€œFriends of Azerbaijani Muhgamâ€ will be held in Azerbaijan State Mugham Theatre. The opening ceremony of the festival will be held in the International Mugham Center on March 20, closing ceremony in Heydar Aliyev Palace on March 25. UNESCO Director General KoÃ¯chiro Matsuura will visit Azerbaijan to attend the festival. The Director General will have a meeting with Mehriban Aliyev on March 19.
