Berlin hosts solemn opening ceremony of “Fly to Baku” exhibition - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku – APA. The opening ceremony of the exhibition Fly to Baku – Contemporary Art from Azerbaijan has been organized at the famous “Collectors room” exhibition hall of Germany by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani embassy in Germany and “Baku International” magazine. APA reports quoting “AzerTAc” news agency that Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which will last till November 17.

The exhibition caused big interest in Berlin. The opening of the exhibition was attended by Germany’s authoritative people, public figures, as well as people of art and guests from various world countries.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Editor-in-Chief of “Baku” magazine Leyla Aliyeva informed the guests about “Fly to Baku” exhibition. Vice-President said that this exhibition has been held in various capitals of the world, including London and Paris up to now, and welcomed with a great interest. The exhibition, which has been organized in Berlin by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani embassy in Germany and “Baku International” magazine is very rich. All directions of Azerbaijan’s contemporary art are practically reflected here. It features 94 works by 21 artists.
In her speech, Leyla Aliyeva said Azerbaijan, which has today amazed the world with rapid development and prosperity, has an ancient and rich history. She noted that Azerbaijanis established the first democratic republic, founded the first ballet, opera in the entire Muslim East, and gained a number of great achievements. She spoke about significant activities carried out by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Baku magazine to promote Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan is a country, where different cultures, nations and religions exist as a one family. We are very proud of this fact. Of course, art is an important part of life and culture in Azerbaijan. I invite each of you to Azerbaijan to discover our country for yourself.”

Following this, the curator of the exhibition Hervé Mikaeloff and President of the Liszt School of Music Christoph Stölzl said that organization of “Fly to Baku” exhibition, previously held in different countries of the world, in Berlin promoted Azerbaijan as a modern, developing country with rich culture.


The participants paid special attention and highly appreciated the works by Leyla Aliyeva. Director of the Governance Center Middle East/North Africa Udo Steinbach noted that along with the development of cultural relations between Germany and Azerbaijan, the exhibition introduced Azerbaijan as a European country with modern prosperous art.

One of the guests - Mujgan Ehrari said that the exhibition proved universal values of Azerbaijani artists: “Their moral worlds are rich and they share secular values.”
Mrs. Michéle Victor Adamski said she was aware of Azerbaijan’s rich music, poetry: “But now, I have discovered Azerbaijan as a country of contemporary art.”

The exhibition, which will last till November 17, will worthily represent our country in the German capital, as it did in other cities.
