UNESCO Director-General makes statement on Nizami Ganjaviâ€™s 870 years anniversary

Baku. Ulkar Rashidgizi â€“ APA. â€œOutstanding Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi is a nationwide scientist. The celebration of his 870 years anniversary is the call for intercultural dialogue. UNESCO feels honor to take in this ceremonyâ€, said the Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova on occasion of the 870 years anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi. Ministry of Culture and Tourism told APA.

The statement says that Nizami Gnajaviâ€™s literary activities popularize the richness of humanity, change the stream of history by means of knowledge and intelligence and calls for just and harmonic society: â€œNo doubt that literal heritage of Nizami has a great importance for the people of Azerbaijan, Central Asia and in other countries. The humanist call for â€œFill my soul with loveâ€ gives us inspiration. This call is reflected in establishment conception of UNESCO. From this point of view, I praise the measures taken by the Azerbaijani, government as well as Ganja authoritiesâ€.
