Master plan prepared with participation of international experts for further complex development of Icherisheher

Roundtable on the theme â€œIcherisheher: rare pearl of the world cultural heritageâ€ has been held today on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites and declaration of Baku the capital of Islamic culture in 2009, APA reports. Mikayil Jabbarov, chief of State Department of Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Preserve under the Cabinet of Ministers, said this date has been marked by UNESCO since 1982. This yearâ€™s slogan of the organization is â€œscience and heritageâ€. Jabbarov said Icherisheher is the encyclopedia of our national culture and noted that it should be preserved for future generations. He said the government gave the status of state preserve to Icherisheher, monuments are being restored, streets and squares repaired. Jabbarov said master plan has been prepared with participation of international experts for further complex development of Icherisheher.
Chief of the department also gave information about the future steps with regard to Icherisheher.
â€œIcherisheher should be promoted both in the country and in the whole world. Modern technologies and modern forms of presentation should be used for this purpose. Unfortunately, the preserve department has no website. First of all we will ourselves begin application of modern technologies. Website on Icherisheher will be launched in three languages,â€ he said.
Mikayil Jabbarov said measures would also be taken for historical protection of Icherisheher.
â€œThe citizens and organizations living and working in Icherisheher should admit that we all live in a historical city. Living in a historical city should have some restrictions. We should not forget to apply standards. We are not satisfied with traffic and protection of historical monuments. Thatâ€™s why, we will use the measures envisaged in the law. Sometimes we will be strict,â€ he said.
